With the support of a Sphinx MPower Artist Grant, Catherine Ramirez releases her third CD album titled Claiming Space (Solo Flute Music of BIPOC composers from South, Latin and North America). This album is a collection of musical stories that reflect on Catherine's cultural heritage, as well as on broad experiences of marginalized inhabitants in the Americas throughout history. Tying together themes of perspective, family, hope and empowerment, this album aims to demonstrate the importance of reflecting on our peoples' history, our resilience and honorability, and on our art.
